The players are still stalling to accept the 30% pay cut.
“We have resigned without being able to complete the economic measures necessary. I hope that in coming days a salary cut can be agreed, otherwise, there will be very grave consequences for the immediate future of the club,” Josep Maria Bartomeu has just said while announcing his resignation.
The Barcelona board decided to apply a new 30% unilateral wage cut for all players and staff with the deadline to reach the agreement on November 5.
However, most players are still stalling to accept the salary drop, demanding to be treated seperately from the non-playing staff.
Gerard Pique, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet are the only 4 players who agreed on the wage reduction by signing new contracts with the club.
