Former Super Eagles star, Daniel Amokachi, has warned Gernot Rohr and his players to treat tomorrow’s game against Cape Verde seriously, saying the Blue Sharks could spoil Nigeria’s ambition of qualifying for Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Speaking in Lagos at the weekend, Amokachi, who is a Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sports, noted that the absence of the UK-based players could affect Eagles’ cohesion in the game.
He advised Super Eagles coaches and officials to work out ways of getting the three points from the game, adding that dropping points in Cape Verde could prove costly to Nigeria.
“My major concern is the game against Cape Verde. The game will be tough because some of Nigeria’s key players will not play in the game. Also, Cape Verde went away to Central African Republic (CAR) to pick a draw. This shows they are not pushovers in the group.
“The draw they got in CAR will ginger them to go for a win against Super Eagles with high level if confidence. Super Eagles should approach the game with tactical discipline and avoid complacency,” he said.
Super Eagles currently top Group C with three points after beating Liberia 2- 0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Friday.
Cape Verde and Central Africa Republic are on one point following their 1-1 draw in Cameroun last week.
