Barcelona’s winger Raphinha has come under a lot of fire in Brazil lately, for both on and off-the-pitch reasons, Diario Sport claim.
First, everyone expects the 26-year-old to do better in terms of goal output. Raphinha’s finishing against Serbia was poor, and he didn’t contribute with any assists either.
And second, the winger is criticised in the press for defending Neymar. Raphinha suggested that Brazil did not deserve Ney after some fans celebrated the forward’s injury.
Those comments came from people angry at the 30-year-old for publicly supporting far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro during the latest election. Now, the same people are saying that Raphinha was wrong to jump to Neymar’s defence without a proper understanding of the matter.
The pressure on Raphina is higher than ever, as he will have to assume more responsibility on the pitch following his teammate’s injury.
