- FC Barcelona official media confirm the former goalkeeper won’t travel to Tarragona.
- He could be sacked next week.
- The club are allegedly unhappy with his most recent two-match ban and Juvenil A overall results.
Now it’s official: Victor Valdes won’t be in charge of the upcoming Juvenil A fixture against Tarragona, FC Barcelona official media have just confirmed.
The same source also states that Valdes will meet the Barcelona board next week to discuss his future. Everything indicates he could be sacked even though the former goalkeeper was only appointed this summer.
CatRadio have recently reported Valdes has already informed his players he doesn’t know whether he continues as the Juvenil A coach or not. Moreover, he has had an alleged heated talk with Patrick Kluivert, the new head of La Masia.
Here is the list of controversies Valdes has been involved in recently:
- Valdes refused to take part in the third-place match at the Otten Cup as he was concerned with the number of injuries his players suffered during the tournament.
- The 37-year-old said ‘F*ck you’ to the referee during the league game and has been banned for two matches.
- Most recently, Victor was the only who didn’t take part in the special dinner the club organized for the La Masia coaches.
Besides these controversies, the club is allegedly unhappy with the results the ex-player is showing. Barca U19 have now lost two UEFA Youth League matches, including the heavy 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Inter.
Moreover, in the match against Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago, Barca U19 team were leading 1-0 after the first 45 minutes but Valdes made three subs at half-time and the Catalans ended up losing 2-1.
