The Blues are certainly looking at options in Germany to strengthen their defence.
Chelsea will continue to try and sign David Alaba, who has also been linked with Real Madrid and Liverpool, as per Sport Bild, a reliable source in Germany.
The Austrian’s contract at Bayern Munich expires in the summer but would command a high salary and signing on-fee.
The negotiations between Alaba and Real Madrid aren’t as advanced as it’s been reported, the German outlet says.
Alaba has made 25 appearances for the Bavarians this term, recording two goals and an assist.
Christian Falk of Sport Bild has also reported that Chelsea also have Dayot Upamecano and Niklas Sule on their shortlist.
Bayern Munich’s manager Hansi Flick seemed to confirm the Blues’ interest in Sule when asked at a recent press conference (via Football 365): “It is, of course, nice for us when other clubs are interested in our players.”
Sule has made 12 Bundesliga appearances this term.
