The Croatian champions extended their unbeaten streak at Stadion Maksimir to 20 games in all competitions with the game-winning goal on the 13th minute in Zagreb, thanks to Mislav Orsic.
Reece James struck a late post as Thomas Tuchel’s team, champions of Europe the year before, struggled to get going in Group E, which also contains AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg.
