Chelsea will now return to domestic and European action after winning the Club World Cup. Here’s all you need to know about the team’s injury concerns.
Mason Mount
Mount will be out for at least two weeks after sustaining an ankle injury during the Club World Cup final.
Tuchel said of Mount: “He made a run to the second post with Cesar and his opponent fell on his ankle and he hurt his ligaments badly.”
Mount is likely to miss the Carabao Cup final but should be back after that.
Reece James
Reece James could be set for a potential return to the Chelsea squad for the trip to Crystal Palace this weekend. He’s been out of the squad since the 1-1 draw against Brighton with a hamstring injury.
On February 8, Tuchel said: “For Reece, there is no chance he plays in the CWC. He is in a very, very good way, but he missed some training sessions to enjoy the group again, or have the possibility to play the game.”
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Loftus-Cheek got injured in the first week of February and missed the club’s FA Cup game as well as the Club World Cup.
It was revealed that the midfielder was ‘nursing a minor injury’, and should be back in training before the Palace game.
Ben Chilwell
The left-back will likely be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair ACL damage. However, he has started his rehab process and was with the rest of the squad in Abu Dhabi.
