As pictures from his presentation at Aston Villa show, Philippe Coutinho still wears the red ribbon Leo Messi gifted him back in 2019.
Messi got the red ribbon from Argentinian journalist Rama Pantarotto during the World Cup in 2018. The reporter told Leo that the ribbon was his mother’s amulet and was supposed to carry good luck. In the next game, Messi scored a phenomenal goal against Nigeria.
In 2019, with Coutinho struggling at camp Nou, the then Barcelona captain handed Phil the amulet. It appears that the Brazilian has been wearing it since then, even during his loan at Bayern Munich. Hopefully, it will bring him luck at Aston Villa too.
