“I’ve actually opened up to the idea of Font becoming president. Of all the candidates, he has the clearest plan which he – I was surprised to hear this – has been working on for 5 years,” Blaugrana fan and Reddit user vernonip notes.
“He understands the philosophy that Barca stands for and he wants to implement that and grow from within too via La Masia, but he also recognizes that we need a few marquee signings to fill in gaps here and there, hence he has been talking up Haaland coming to Camp Nou.
“The most important thing for me is that he wants to bring back many of the players of the most successful Barca team and to be the most successful team ever: Xavi, Puyol, Iniesta, etc. That will definitely help in the day to day management and making important sporting decisions.
“A good example is how Bayern is being run. Apart from this, he has also stated his plans on how he is going to appoint specialists in every post, football and sports generally, finances, etc. I’ll admit, I was a bit sceptical initially, but looking more into his plan, he looks like the perfect candidate.
“He’s obvious flaw is the comment he made on firing Koeman regardless of how he’s doing. He later clarified but the truth of that will have to be revealed with time.
“His main competitor, Laporta, was so far one of, if not the best president ever, but we also need a new direction, a more modern one. One I think Font fills well.”
Despite Joan Laporta’s huge presidential experience, it’s Victor Font who’s believed to be the frontrunner to win the upcoming election. He is presumed to be the virtually leading presidential candidate because he invests much time explaining his presidential program.
It’s worth a mention that Font wants only 1/3 of the new board to be the club’s former greats. The remaining board members should be businessmen and passionate Cules who could work in different sectors, in his opinion.
