Barcelona fans welcomed the French attacker but raised concerns whether he would fit into the system – and so it’s happened.
Antoine Griezmann joined Barca for €120m in July 2019 and we’re looking at the best takes on this transfer coming from the BarcaForum.
There were some curious tactical plans…
CuleInAsia: “Good signing for Barca.
“Make Messi play as a CAM in a 4-2-2-2 with Griezmann and Suarez upfront and Messi given the free role to roam about.
“All this depends highly on the tactics that Valverde adopts.”
But general mood was rather pessimistic
Donatello: “I hope the board has a plan for him. Excellent player, but still no clue how we will utilize him.”
Calidad: “Don’t see where he fits. Like Griezmann but meh.”
Potroh: “I’m quite pessimistic about Griezmann. He is good but not a miracle for Barca. If he is played on left-wing, he will be definitely another Coutinho, because he is not a winger – at all.
“I wouldn’t have bought him, especially not at the age of 29 with a 5-year contract. I can imagine Griezmann playing here at the age of 34, not a nice dream.”
Mitchell1978: “Barca should be focusing on strengthening the positions that are lacking (right-back, back-up left-back, centre-forward) and not getting an expensive 28-year to play him out of position.”
‘Past his prime’ sounds too harsh, doesn’t it?
Wambo: “This is Coutinho all over again. Btw, why is the club always buying these expensive players when they are past their prime?”
Nah, not getting these either.
Andresito: “Hope they included a proper haircut clause in the contract. And no Fortniting.”
Since joining Barca, Griezmann has scored only 17 goals in 57 games.

I was baflled really. I knew it would come to this and I laughed because I do not like Barcelona. Wahala for who didn’t know that Griezmann won’t be a success at Barcelona.
