UEFA have finally confirmed the dates of the Champions League group stage matches. Here they come:
- Matchday 1 — Barcelona vs Ferencvaros — October 20
- Matchday 2 — Juventus vs Barcelona — October 28
- Matchday 3 — Barcelona vs Dynamo Kyiv — November 4
- Matchday 4 — Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona — November 24
- Matchday 5 — Ferencvaros vs Barcelona — December 2
- Matchday 6 — Barcelona vs Juventus — December 8
The Catalans get a relatively easy start as they are to host competition debutants Ferencvaros. If Barcelona win most of their games up to Matchday 6 and secure their place in the knock-out stage, we might see Ronald Koeman give some minutes to the irregular starters in the return game against Juve.
So, after all, it might be that we witness only one Leo Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo duel this season.
