Manchester United will undergo a summer of metamorphosis after losing several first-team players.
Midfield quintet Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata will all depart the club this month, and with new manager Erik Ten Hag aiming for numerous new recruits, United fans can probably be thrilled about next season.
Several prominent players, like Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, have already been widely linked with a move to Old Trafford.
According to a recent TalkSPORT story, the Red Devils are becoming ‘increasingly confident’ that a deal to transfer the former Ajax maestro to Manchester can be completed, with journalist Fabrizio Romano stating the Netherlands international is worth up to £72 million (€85 million).
In other news, journalist Jorge Nicola recently revealed that the 20-time champions had made an opening bid of £38 million (€45 million) for Ajax winger Antony.
According to Sports Illustrated, Nicola stated on his YouTube channel, “Manchester United are expecting to secure an agreement for Antony very soon.” […] Manchester United has submitted a €45 million bid for Antony to Ajax. Antony’s pal claims that the winger is Erik ten Hag’s top target at United and that it’s only a matter of time before the trade is completed. Ajax will beg United for additional money.”
Ajax defender Jurrien Timber (The Guardian) and Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante have also been widely connected with summer moves to Old Trafford (The Athletic).
If all four players agree to join their respective clubs, we believe Ten Hag would set up his United team in an attacking but controlled 4-3-3 style.
