Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia has welcomed interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and is keen to push for a transfer to the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to the latest reports.
The Argentine midfielder is one of the Gunners’ top targets this month with Mikel keen to bolster his creative options in midfield.
The Gunners have reportedly held initial discussions with Buendia’s agent, while the Championship club have set a £40 million asking price.
Previous reports stated that the Gunners are looking to reduce the fellow English side’s valuation with a player-plus-cash deal and are prepared to offer either Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson on loan as part of the deal.
Norwich are adamant that Emiliano won’t be sold this month but according to CBS Sports, the South American is ready to tell the Championship club that he is prepared to join the Gunners if they make an official approach.
The report claims that the Gunners have only held ‘informal talks’ about a possible move so far.
Speaking at the weekend, Norwich chief Daniel Farke insisted that he wasn’t
considering the prospect of his player leaving before the end of the season. ‘Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us,’ said the manager.
‘He is our player and will continue to be our player. He is on a long-term contract so we keep him.
‘Everyone knows his qualities – I don’t expect interest just because he scored a wondergoal today. People know what he can do.’
