Speaking to Gary Neville on The Overlap, Declan Rice said: “I think the main one, and I have always said it, is that I don’t want to have a career where I’ve not won nothing. I have grown up seeing all these top players win the big trophies.
“I want to win the best stuff. I want to win the Premier League — I want to lift that trophy. I also want to win the Champions League. I want to win the FA Cup and the League Cup, even stuff with England. I want to win it all.
“As a footballer, if you have not got that ambition I don’t know why you’re playing. They are the best moments of your life when you win those trophies. I want to have those experiences of winning trophies and being the best that I can be.
“I am constantly reading stuff [rumours] about myself. It is just all noise and I know that I have just got to stay focused on what I have got to do at West Ham, which is perform week-in, week-out and try to be the best player.”
Manchester United have reportedly identified Rice as their preferred target ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window as they search for midfield reinforcements.
Paul Pogba is likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of 2021/22 season on a free transfer, leading the Red Devils short of options in the middle of the park.
