The ex-United striker compares Cavani’s arrival to those of Ibrahimovic and Van Persie.
The younger players will be able to learn a lot from the experienced teammate.
Moreover, he shoows that he is still able to compete at the highest level himself.
“You can see what he has brought to the table,” ex-Man United striker Dwight Yorke told Sky Sports about Edinson Cavani. “Often when you bring in a big personality like Cavani, a younger player is taking that [in].
“We have seen that with Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] before and we have seen [Robin] Van Persie come in and do a job and [Henrik] Larsson as well in that category. You can see Cavani has come in and done that.
“What I like about Cavani is he is totally different to the rest of the players,” Yorke continued.” His movement is outstanding and he is a seasoned campaigner. Although he hasn’t played in our league, that hasn’t deterred him and he wants to prove that he can play at this level even at this stage [of his career].
“When you have that combination and that type of player, you are always going to bring along the younger players and they seem to have taken to him. It was a great masterstroke from Ole by bringing him in.”
Cavani’s stats might not be the most impressive for a striker – he’s scored just 4 goals in 15 games, but he’s only started in 6 of them.
In any case, he’s left such a positive impression that there’s a solid chance that the Uruguayan will stay at Old Trafford for another year.
