“We had many meetings with his agents and with the Inter managers, with whom there is an excellent relationship.
“Then there was the pandemic, and it changed things.”
Back in 2021, Barcelona were seriously interested in Lautaro. But the forward had a €111m release clause and Inter Milan were reluctant to sell him for less.
