- Barcelona could’ve had both Courtois and Ter Stegen at the same time, Javier Bordas claims.
- He says he wanted to sign Alvaro Morata as Luis Suarez’s successor.
- However, Bartomeu rejected his proposal and signed Kevin-Prince Boateng instead.
- The likes of Haaland, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo were also mentioned but Bartomeu didn’t want to bring them to Camp Nou.
“I once offered the club to sign [Thibaut] Courtois and I talked about it with Sandro Rosell [former Barca president] before. He told me that if we can do something, we do it. It was possible to bring Courtois but Zubizzareta [another director] brought Ter Stegen and made the right decision,” Barca’s former director Javier Bordas has said to Mundo Deportivo.
“In recent years, I thought that Suarez needed a replacement and there were not many players who could replace him because Luis is one of the best.
“A good option was Morata who wanted to leave Chelsea. I talked about it with Bartomeu and he told me that he liked him a lot. I enquired about Morata and the truth is that it was possible to bring him on loan but the technical secretariat rejected it and [Kevin-Prince] Boateng came instead.

“I recommended many more signings. [Erling] Haaland, Ferran Torres from Man City, Dani Olmo for €20m,” Bordas added.
It’s a bit weird to think of Thibaut Courtois or Alvaro Morata on our team. However, bringing the latter to Camp Nou would perhaps be a better deal than Kevin-Prince Boateng’s move.
And it’s quite crazy that we missed out on the likes of Haaland, Torres and Olmo.
