Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Barcelona opted to sign Ferran Torres over Dani Olmo in the January transfer window earlier this year.
He wrote on his CaughtOffside column: “Strongest interest was from Barcelona one year ago (for Olmo), in 2021; but then they invested €55m on Ferran Torres so nothing happened.
“I think he could be great for Premier League too; but there’s nothing imminent or close as of today.”
Olmo came into the World Cup at the back of an injury, but has been one of Spain’s best players so far in the competition and a real breath of fresh air in the frontline.
He’s scored one goal and provided an assist, but unable to match Ferran’s two goals in the World Cup so far.
