Believe it or not i had started this blog this morning before the Sancho feature on the main feed but hey ho here we go lol.
My answer to the three questions would have to be No, No and No.
Firstly, had he wanted to be a United player, if he had really wanted it then he could have been by now. He had a whole transfer window to lodge a transfer request and it didn’t happen, so logically i question his desire to play for us.
This situation reminds me very much of the time we nearly signed Shearer. Both players have or had unquestionable qualities that would benefit united.
We were close to signing Shearer from Blackburn but a bidding war ensued, he finally signed for Newcastle citing that he turned us down because it had been his dream to play for his biy hood club. I dont question that but do his motive. For if that was the case why did the bidding start at 10 million but ended up somewhere close to 19? If he loved them that much save them 9 mil for another player. So like i say if Sancho wanted it enough it would have happened. It didnt.
Secondly, is he needed? I would argue that actually no, not anymore. We’re doing quite well without him thankyou. Yes the right wing is an area of concern but i firmly believe it will be resolved before the next summer window when Sancho would be available.
By all acounts and going off some of the clips i’ve watched of Diallo and Pellistri we’ve got that position boxed off, and with some depth. Indeed the formers form has been better than that of Sancho’s this term so far. All be it that they play in different leagues.
Thirdly and finally, wanted? No, as i have already said if he wanted it to be, it would be. What we want is a player who wants to be here, who will play for the badge and those along side him. Pellistri has settled in well and in his own words loves being here. Add to that Diallo’s impending arrival and there is no longer the want for Sancho.
In my humble opinion United have had a lucky escape and come out of it looking good having saved 100 mil that should be spent reinforcing other areas of the squad.
Is Sancho a decent baller? Yes most certainly i just dont think we need him any more and i for for one dont want him.
