It’s been a dream start for some FPL managers and a nightmarish one for others.
Some players have also made explosive starts to the season and this is reflected in their FPL points totals so far and some not how they’d have wished to start. Below are my picks for Gameweek 3 and why.
Goalkeeper: Martinez
The Aston villa goalkeeper is available at 4.5 million and with a potential for saves and cleansheets, he’s great value for this weekend. Although he’s facing a Fulham side who scored 3 times in their last game, taking a punt at Martinez, who had the highest save percentage of any goalkeeper to play up to 5 games last season could pay off.
Defenders: Saiss, Bailly, Mitchell
I’ve gone with three at the back, Roman Saiss has potential for cleansheets, goals and assists and at 5.1 million is great value. Solskjaer has hinted at a start for Eric Bailly and this could help Man Utd to a cleansheet against Brighton on Saturday. He’s also a big differential not being in upto 5% of teams.
Palace’s Tyrrick Mitchell is another value defender at 4.1 million, he plays at left back and the Eagles’ flying start to the season could play well into the hands of his owners.
Midfielders: Greenwood, De Bruyne, Sterling, Son
Mason Greenwood faces Brighton and he delivered a goal and an assist in this exact fixture last season.
De Bruyne is the best player in the league and you can’t just overlook him.
Sterling is the only other city player capable of big point hauls. And as you never know which city players would start, Sterling almost always escapes rotation.
Buoyed by a 4 goal haul last weekend and playing a Newcastle side that conceded three times last weekend, Son is a player you can’t overlook right now.
Forwards: Watkins, Calvert-Lewin, Jimenez.
Watkins faces a porous Fulham defence this weekend and he has been playing decently recently. Scoring in a friendly vs Man Utd and a goal in the midweek League Cup win, he could take advantage of a leaky defence and he’s a differential pick.
Calvert-Lewin is the man of the moment having scored 4 goals so far this season and his price has already risen by 0.3 million in two weeks.
Jimenez has been a consistent goalscorer since arriving the Premier League and he faces West Ham United this weekend.

A very good team with potential but Mitchell plays against a very good Everton team I don’t see Palace keeping a clean sheet but looks like a good team overall
