Neville still has his reservations about the Red Devils’ ability.
Someone who can play from the back, as well as a right winger, are needed at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gary Neville said: “I look at the game on Sunday [vs Liverpool] and think: how do you go from that to becoming title winners? I think one area is that Manchester United need to push up the pitch a bit more.
“One more area is that the right-hand side is a problem. Juan Mata has played there, Daniel James has, Paul Pogba has, Marcus Rashford has, Donny an de Beek and Mason Greenwood have played there, and nobody has cemented it.
“We know Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted that right-wing position filled in the summer, and he didn’t get it. Man United just need that little bit of belief, and a couple extra players, and they’re not as far away as it looks.”
For what it’s worth, Ed Woodward has recently promised to ‘support’ Solskjaer in the transfer market. However, no new first-team players are expected to arrive at Old Trafford this January.
