- Gavi notched up his 64th foul of the season as he picked up a yellow against Getafe
- It took Gavi just over a minute of the game to be booked for being too aggressive
- Some players are not happy with Gavi’s tackling during games, and the fact that he isn’t punished
Don’t let Gavi’s age fool you.
The Barcelona youngster is proving that he’s no pushover, despite being only 18.
The Spanish international has developed a reputation for taking no prisoners on the football field, and that was extremely evident against Getafe.
The youngster took just one minute 23 seconds to commit the first foul of the game, and earn himself a yellow card in the process. He was booked after he brought down Turkish striker Enes Ünal, and became the second quickest Barcelona player to receive a yellow card in the past 18 years.

Gavi’s over eagerness wasn’t enough to help Barcelona to victory though, as they stumbled to a 0-0 draw, Goal reported. More surprisingly, it was Gavi’s 64th foul of the La Liga season, but only his seventh yellow card. He’s yet to receive any reds.
41 other players in the league have already picked up more yellow cards than the Barcelona player, despite committing less fouls.
Referees’ reluctance to book the player has also been a topic in discussion recently, with Real Madrid’s players complaining that Gavi often got away with fouls.
Vinicius Junior in particular was not impressed with the youngster’s marking during El Clasico fixtures.
Barcelona’s fans, though, have praised the youngster and commended him for not letting opposition players get too comfortable during games.
Gavi and Vini square off
Vinicius Junior and Gavi were in each other’s faces during the Copa del Rey semi-final clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The zippy winger and Gavi were involved in a moment of madness in the first half of the Spanish Cup during the fifth meeting between the Clasico giants this season.
The Brazilian was directly in the face of Gavi as the pair exchanged a couple of words before the former pushed the Spanish youngster away, AFRIUPDATE reported.
