- Martinez also describes Barca and Granada as teams belonging to ‘very different universes’.
- Still, he feels positive about the potential home win on Saturday.
- As for Messi, he is expected to play after the Borussia Dortmund cameo.
Barcelona travel to Granada this Saturday, September 21. Their opponents are joint on points with the Catalans: both sides have won twice, drawn once and lost once since the start of the 2019/2020 La Liga season.
Still, Granada head coach Diego Martinez believes no comparison could be made between his team and the reigning champions.
He says during the press conference, as quoted by Marca: “A lot of things differentiate Granada and Barcelona, we both belong to very different universes. I visualise the match in a positive way, I see us winning, although I’m aware of the difficulties that come with facing one of the best teams in the world.”
Martinez continues: “We’re going to have to work a lot, run very hard and squeeze the maximum out of ourselves, but we have a belief that anything can happen.”
Finally, Martinez adds on Leo Messi’s involvement in the game: “If Messi wants to rest then nothing changes for us. On the pitch there are nuances and situations that you must handle.”
However, it’s almost certain that Messi will play against Granada. The Argentinean made his season debut against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. He wasn’t available for the first league matches because of a calf injury. Messi entered the pitch close to the hour-mark of the UCL game.
