Let’s hope Fati comes back stronger but now it’s up to Pedri to take his chance as ‘the position he likes best’, as Pepe Mel once described it, is up for grabs.
Barcelona are set to be without Ansu Fati for the next four months after the 18-year-old picked up a meniscus injury in the Betis win over the weekend.
Considering the Spaniard’s strong start to the 2020/21 campaign, his absence could be vital for the Catalans further into the season.
On the other hand, Fati’s injury could be a blessing in disguise for Barca. How? Let’s take a look at what Pepe Mel, Pedri‘s former coach at Las Palmas, said about the Blaugrana’s new boy last month.
“Pedri? Teammates will see him as a support and a guarantee. He is a smart player,” Mel told Catalunya Radio on October 29.
“Yesterday [against Juventus], on the left, he played in the position he likes best. We will soon see him in the Spanish team.”

The next huge test for the 17-year-old is set to take place at the Wanda Metropolitano when Atletico Madrid host the Catalans on November 21 in Barca’s first game after Fati’s injury.
