Tusquets says that what he meant was that Messi’s sale would’ve been good for Barca from an economic point of view, not that he would’ve sold Leo.
He is ready to explain his comments to Messi’s entourage and to Koeman.
The interim president claims he’ll limit his appearances in the press from now on.
“I did not say I would have sold Messi, I said that financially his departure would have been good for the club,” Barcelona interim president Carles Tusquets has told Catalunya Radio. (h/t Diario Sport)
“If it’s necessary, I will explain to Koeman that they’ve poorly translated what I said. I am ready to speak to Messi’s entourage and explain to them my response.
“The club compensates [the player] for the money Messi generates but Barca don’t depend on one person alone. The Barca brand around the world doesn’t depend on one name alone.”
Koeman has reacted to the president’s previous comments, saying that he’s not concerned with his opinion and that he wants Messi to stay at Camp Nou.
Tusquets has also said that he’ll avoid talking to the press in the future: “It’s evident that I am going to limit my appearances in the media from now on.”
