After the game, Marcus Rashford tweeted: “Anthony Elanga. Get that head of yours up immediately.”
David de Gea, who was rested for the game, tweeted: “ANTHONY ELANGA.❤️”

Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted heading over to the youngster after his penalty miss and giving him some words of encouragement on the Old Trafford pitch.
Head up Elanga! It shouldn’t have gone to penalties. Game should’ve been won in the first half. #MUFC pic.twitter.com/IzUHL3ikhJ

Phil Jones also gave the youngster some words of support after the penalty shootout.
Ralf Rangnick sent his support to Elanga, saying: “We will try to encourage him [Elanga] again, be there for him and it can happen to more experienced players.”
Elanga’s penalty miss might’ve resulted in the penalty shootout loss, but the Red Devils had many chances to ensure it didn’t reach that stage itself.
They were sloppy with their finishing and an unfair goal being given to the visitors didn’t help things either.
