The coach insists Riqui Puig’s and Ronald Araujo’s situations are totally different.
He thinks the issue with Riqui isn’t just about his quality but also about his attitude and work rate.
“Araujo and Puig are totally different,” Ronald Koeman has just told the press when asked to compare the youngsters’ situations, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“I like people who work every day to improve, and who take opportunities with both hands. Sometimes it’s not just about quality. There may be players who don’t do enough in training for the coach to give opportunities,” the coach added, potentially referring to Riqui Puig.
Riqui has registered 77 minutes across 4 matches so far this season.
Last weekend, El Pais reported that Koeman called Puig a ‘leaker’ in front of his teammates, accusing him of revealing to the press that the coach wanted to get rid of him.
As for Ronald Araujo, he has clocked in 372 minutes in 6 games this season, missing 7 matches due to a muscle injury.
