Man City have been alerted to the Lionel Messi situation at Barcelona as he was dropped for Barcelona’s trip to Ukraine to face Dynamo Kyiv in their foutlrth CL game.
Manchester City will hold formal talks with Barcelona captain Lionel Messi in the January transfer window, the Mirror. By January, Messi will have less than 6 months left on his contract with Barca which allows him to talk to other clubs from then.
Manchester City are tipped as the favourites to sign the 33-year-old Argentine talisman since the summer window. And with Guardiola extending his contract at the club, the odds just got slashed on Messi moving to City.
Koeman gives reason for Messi omission.
Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman has given the reason why Messi was omitted in Barcelona’s travelling squad to face Dynamo Kyiv. He alongside Frenkie De Jong were rested.
Koeman said its because this is the best time to rest them.
In truth, Barca are comfortably top of their group with 9 points from 3 games. But in the league, they have just 11 points from 8 games
Even Messi currently has just three goals from eight La Liga games but rather disappointingly, only one of those has come from open play.
Messi’s poor form simply sums up Barca’s season in the league so far but they can atleast fancy themselves to make it to the knockouts of Europe’s Premier competition.
