Koeman says that he recognizes Suarez’s qualities.
The coach says that Luis leaving was a decision of the club and the player.
The Dutchman calls his players, including Griezmann, to improve their finishing.
During the press conference ahead of the away match against Huesca, Ronald Koeman was asked whether he regrets letting Luis Suarez move to Atletico Madrid.
“No, I don’t regret letting go of Suarez. I always highlighted his qualities. The decision was already made by the club and him,” he said.
“He worked with me to have minutes, but his destiny ended up different. You can’t compare our team with Atletico. I think there are other ways to win games. Sometimes, because of the way they play, it is enough to score one goal to win the games. It’s different for us.”
Since moving to Atletico, Luis has been having a good run of form. This term so far, the Uruguayan has recorded eight goals and one assist in 11 league matches.
Without the Pistolero, Barcelona have been scoring less, and Koeman has called his players to improve their performances in front of the goal.
“There are a lot of players who need to be more effective, including the midfielders. It’s not just Griezmann. We create a lot of chances, we are the ones who create the most.”
