The 2022 World Cup just can’t stop surprising us. In the latest episode, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde was spotted wearing a gold chain during the match between France and Poland despite it being against the rules.
The IFAB Law 4 states that: “A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous. All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed.”
The referee usually checks the player’s equipment before kick-off but it seems like he didn’t notice Jules’s necklace.
Kounde was finally asked to remove the item 41 minutes into the game when he stepped up for a throw-in and the linesman spotted the chain.
One way or another, Kounde’s drip remains unmatched!
