Here’s how we think our lads fared today.
Reece James – 7.5
Returned to the pitch to the place previously occupied by Callum Hudson-Odoi. Not as dazzling upfront but still providing width and executing his functions to the point.
Mateo Kovacic – 7.5
Created a goalscoring chance for himself but sent his shot wide. Apart from that, an excellent, dominating performance in the middle of the pitch.
Mason Mount – 7.5
His final ball late him down, but he was outstanding in every other department, winning balls and creating chances. BT Sport named him Man of the Match – a justified choice, although there are plenty of options.
Antonio Rudiger – 7
Stepped up massively under Tuchel. Tries to keep it simple and limit his mistakes and succeeds in it.
Jorginho – 7
Hammered the penalty home. Drew some clever fouls from the opposition. Kept the ball well along with Kovacic.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 7
We can’t expect consistency from a 20-year-old, so a bit of a dip is natural. And yet, Callum played quite well, although he lacked end product.
The rest: Mendy – 6.5, Azpilicueta – 6.5, Thiago Silva – 6, Alonso – 6.5, Werner – 6.5, Christensen – 6.5, Pulisic – 6.5, Kante – 6
