Joan Laporta says that Barca’s primary task is to ‘restore respect for themselves’.
The presidential candidate insists that the club need a coach who knows how to work with the team.
However, that doesn’t mean that he should have a Barca background.
“We want to restore Barcelona’s respect for ourselves. I don’t think about whether I’m the favorite in this election, I just concentrate on getting my campaign message clear,” presidential candidate Joan Laporta has told the media, as per MARCA.
“We want to win, we need a coach who works well with the team. We are very focused on what we want, but I will not name names that will destabilise the situation.
“We will not fall into the trap of bringing in new coaches just because they spent many years at Barca,” Laporta concluded.
Joan Laporta seemingly doesn’t care about a person’s ‘Barca DNA’ until he’s a world-class specialist who could bring the team back to the winning ways. Under Laporta, Barca had just 2 managers: Frank Rijkaard, who had never been associated with Blaugrana before his arrival, and Pep Guardiola, a club legend.
