Addressing the rumours that Joan Laporta wanted to sell Frenkie de Jong in the summer, his advisor Enric Masip told Cadena SER: “The president has never wanted to or considered selling De Jong.
“He has never considered selling him ever. Not even with the delicate situation of the club (financially)”
Laporta did receive a few offers to sell De Jong, including one from Man United, but ultimately he and Xavi decided against selling him in the summer transfer window.
Frenkie himself also resisted a move to stay at Camp Nou, where he’s now become a key part of the Barca squad and vying for Sergio Busquets’ spot in the first XI.
