Manchester United have signed Amad Diallo in the transfer window and they remain in the hunt for fresh faces, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeping tabs on long-term target Jadon Sancho. Read more here.
With the January transfer window deadline fast-approaching, Manchester United must act promptly if they want to complete any business this month.
The club have so far recruited Amad Diallo from Atalanta, while Timothy Fosu-Mensah has joined Bayer Leverkusen in search of regular first-team football.
Gary Neville recently admitted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are only two signings away from being title winners, though it remains to be seen whether United will add to their squad.
The Red Devils currently sit at the summit of the Premier League table and are well-placed to attract high-profile names to the club.
Here is the lowdown on the latest United rumours:
A deal for Jadon Sancho being completed in January remains ‘inherently possible’, according to German football journalist Raphael Honigstein.
The Red Devils missed out on signing the 20-year-old star last season, though are set for further negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to strike a breakthrough.
In Honigstein’s eyes, United possess the power to reach an agreement this month but could not expect Sancho to join until the summer.
“There was a big transfer announced in January a couple of years ago. That was Christian Pulisic [to Chelsea ]. But remember, even his deal was the deal for the summer,” the transfer expert told Sky Sports.
“No one’s stopping United, if they went out, and felt really confident, to say, ‘let’s do this deal now, let’s make sure we get in now’. And maybe then announce it at the end of January. That’s inherently possible.
“But they think that the offers and the real negotiations will start closer to towards spring when clubs are perhaps in a better position to understand how much money they’ll have available for their transfer window in the summer.”
Sancho deal ‘inherently possible’
Marcos Rojo could leave the club this month, with a return to his home country a strong possibility.
Boca Juniors have offered the Argentine defender a two-year contract (with an option of a further year), according to Argentinian publication Olé.
It’s understood a verbal agreement is in place, which must now be transferred to a formal settlement.
One complication surrounding this move is that Estudiantes de La Plata, who Rojo started his career with and joined on loan last January, are ‘still strong’ in the chase and the United defender is yet to make a decision.
Manchester United’s pursuit of Lens defender Facundo Medina may have changed following a statement from the club’s manager.
It was suggested that the Red Devils were weighing up a bid for the 21-year-old, with the general view that a summer move was the most likely outcome.

But Lens’ coach Franck Haise has conceded that keeping the Argentine at the club is out of his control, raising the possibility of an earlier exit than first anticipated.
Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday relayed by Le10 Sport, he said: “Can we lose Medina this winter? We can lose any player at the moment because it’s an open transfer window. This goes beyond me.”
