Lazio striker Ciro Immobile will count himself extremely lucky to be alive after his car rammed into a tram in Rome barely 48 hours after starring for his club.
Immobile was driving home with his two daughters on the morning of Sunday, April 16 in his Land Rover SUV.
It was then that his vehicle collided with a tram, which is a rail vehicle that travels on tramway tracks on public urban streets.
Further reports indicate Immobile hurt his hand, and the 33-year-old was rushed to the hospital alongside his two daughters.
There is a high possibility he may have fractured one of his shoulders in the accident which took place in Ponte Matteotti, just a few minutes from Lazio’s home stadium the Stadio Olimpico.
The incident came just two days after Immobile ended a 6-game goal drought as he found the net from the penalty spot to help Lazio to a 3-0 win over Spezia.
Thanks to the win, Lazio climbed to second on the log, 14 points behind runaway leaders Napoli, who could only manage a 0-0 draw against Hellas Verona.
