Vardy names Leo as the best rival player he’s ever faced.
He says just watching what Messi does on the pitch is immense.
“I think you automatically put Leo Messi up there,” Leicester’s striker Jamie Vardy told Sky Sports when asked to name the greatest player he’s ever played against.
“We played against him in a friendly after we won the league and just being on the pitch and seeing what he does is immense,” Vardy added, referring to Barca’s 4-2 win in the 2016 International Champions Cup.
“If he the greatest player of all time? For me, yes. Obviously, there are lots of debate around that so I just leave my answer and let others debate,” Vardy concluded with a cheeky smile.
Vardy and Messi remain the only 2 players who’ve ever managed to score a hat-trick against a team managed by Pep Guardiola. So far this season, the Englishman has scored 9 goals in 8 games.
