As is the case with many star athletes, football is not the only source of revenue for Lionel Messi. Among other business ventures, the former Barcelona captain is the owner of the MIM Hotels group.
Most recently, the chain bought their sixth hotel in San Roque, one of the most exclusive areas in Cadiz, Spain. This wouldn’t be as big of a story if not for the hotel group’s decision to fire the full staff of around 40 persons on the first day.
As per Euro News Weekly, no reason for the dismissal was given. San Roque Mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix has described the decision as a major blow to the town. He has contacted the new owners to try to convince them to reverse their decision.
If Messi’s company doesn’t restore the workers, the case could be taken to court.
