Olympique Lyon demand a swap deal with Barcelona for Memphis Depay that could potentially see Antoine Griezmann joining forces with the Ligue 1 side
Olympique Lyon is willing to do Ronald Koeman and Barcelona a great favour as the Ligue 1 have reportedly shown interest in Antoine Griezmann. The former Atletico Madrid superstar is currently out of favour at the club under Koeman which was on full display in the El Clasico as the manager opted to play Pedri over the 120 million euro signing.
Reports now state that Lyon is willing to part ways with Memphis Depay on the condition that Barca offer Antoine Griezmann in exchange. Depay has been the priority signing that Ronald Koeman has demanded since taking over as manager.
However, the Dutch manager attempted to sign his compatriot this summer transfer window but failed to do so.
Ronald Koeman has the opportunity to sign his wanted man once again in the winter transfer window. The signing of Griezmann has been rather futile for the Catalans and a change of air for the player could do him and the club good as well.
The question is whether Griezmann would be open to the idea of joining Lyon. The Frenchman on his best day is one of the best forwards which makes it highly unlikely that he would want to leave Barca for Lyon that seems like a major downgrade.
Although his performances certainly are not on the elite level, however, Griezmann could still play for a club of a higher calibre. It is to be seen whether the Frenchman would consider this option. Would the swap deal of Griezmann for Depay workout? and if yes, would it actually benefit Barca?. Let me know in the comments.
