Manchester United have triggered the one-year option in Jesse Lingard’s contract.
The English midfielder was technically out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season but the club have activated a clause to keep him until the summer of 2022.
Despite the extension Afriupdate understands Lingard will still be allowed to leave United in the January transfer window if an appropriate offer comes in for him.
The 28-year-old received interest from clubs in England and Europe during the summer and is attracting loan interest ahead of the window opening later this week.
Lingard has not featured in the Premier League or Champions League this season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, despite making the squad for both competitions, with his only
