Manchester United forward Anthony Martial picked up an injury during the club’s win over Burnley in midweek but the Frenchman is expected to be fit in time for their Premier League clash vs Liverpool on Sunday, according to The Daily Mail.
The report claims: “Manchester United will give Anthony Martial as much time as possible to prove his fitness for Sunday’s top-of-the-table showdown with Liverpool at Anfield.
“The 25-year-old appeared to hurt his hamstring as he attempted a shot at the end of United’s win at Burnley on Tuesday night and was immediately replaced by Axel Tuanzebe.
“Club sources say the injury is not as bad as first feared and Martial was moving freely after the game, but the Frenchman will be assessed on Thursday morning after the players were given Wednesday off.”
Anthony Martial has been a consistent figure in Man United’s forward line this season, scoring two and assisting four goals in 13 Premier League games so far.
But on Tuesday, the 25-year-old had to be taken off in the dying minutes of the match with the hamstring injury and immediately there were doubts over his participation on Sunday vs Liverpool.
Thankfully, the injury does not look too serious and Anthony Martial should be fit and available for selection by the end of the week.
Liverpool have a really makeshift defensive line with players like Joel Matip, Van Dijk and Joe Gomez all out injured so Solskjaer will be desperate to name his strongest front line at Anfield.
If Martial is not a 100 % then the Man United boss will have no other option but to name Edinson Cavani up front and use young Mason Greenwood on the right flank.
