One moment from the 1-1 draw with Southampton perfectly captures how the visitors played and executed the offside trap – only for the Red Devils to fall prey.
In the first screenshot below, United are set up for an offensive free-kick. Every single player in a red shirt appears headed towards the goal, which means they are all essentially offside while the ball is being kicked.
Southampton stayed calm and appealed for an offside after Ronaldo was able to find the back of the net.
And surely enough, the referee raised the offside flag. Once again, we were left to rue the wasted opportunity.
