Manchester United centre-back Marcos Rojo has held negotiations over a move to Boca Juniors in his native Argentina, though a reported deal has still to be finalised.
The 20-times English champions are still to receive an offer from Boca on Rojo, but initial discussions have taken place.
The defender was on loan at Estudiantes last term and is open to returning to Argentina in spite of interest from Sheffield United and Newcastle United.
However, rumoured terms have still to be agreed for the defender, who joined United from Sporting CP back in 2014 for £16 million.
Marcos, who has been sidelined since last year’s October with a calf injury, has made 122 appearances for his side during an injury-ravaged six-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.
Rojo did oversee some trophy success at UNited though, helping Louis van Gaal win the FA Cup four years ago before being part of the EFL Cup and Europa League-winning double side under then-manager Jose Mourinho.
A move to Boca Juniors would see Marcos reunited with former international team-mate Carlos Tevez, who infamously crossed the city divide after two seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson to sign for Manchester City back in 2009.
Meantime, Manchester United are allegedly ready to end their interest in attacker Jadon Sancho in order to pursue a deal for his Borussia Dortmund teammate Erling Braut Haaland.
The former Manchester City ace has struggled for form this campaign, failing to score in 11 Bundesliga games, and according to The Mirror, the Red Devils are now debating whether to revive their interest ahead of the 2021-22 term.
The report states that the 20-time English champions would rather prioritise a move for erling, who was a target for the club before he left RB Salzburg for Die Borussen in January 2020.
