Sergio Ramos’ future at Real Madrid has been up in the air for quite some time and it will not come as any surprise to see him leave in the summer for free.
The Spanish international is still negotiating with the Los Blancos, who have agreed to sign David Alaba on a bosman from Bayern Munich (The Guardian).
According to Ian McGarry, Man Utd have made contact to sign Ramos. The well-known journalist told Transfer Window Podcast on Youtube:
“Sergio’s brother has told them (Madrid) that Manchester United have been in contact.“
The 34-year-old La Roja star is currently earning a salary of around 12.5 million euros net per year i.e. about £214,000-a-week (AS). At Old Trafford, there are a few players who earn more than the 2010 World Cup winner (The Sun).
Ramos has won every major prize multiple times with the 13-time European Champions. Moreover, he has won all the major titles with the national team as well and is currently the captain of both the sides.
Former Man Utd striker, Dimitar Berbatov, recently claimed that the 178-capped international is still a ‘top’ player who has what it takes to improve the back-line at Old Trafford (via Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have leaked goals on regular basis under Solskjaer but lately, they have been solid at the back. In the last four league games, we have only conceded one goal (vs Aston Villa).
In the last league game vs Liverpool, the likes of Shaw and Wan-Bissaka had Salah and Mane in their pockets and our defense did not let the Merseysiders create a single clear cut goal scoring opportunity at Anfield.
Currently, we have the likes of Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly and Tuanzebe for the central defensive positions. In your view, do Man Utd need another center back? Should they secure the signing of Sergio Ramos?
