As per the latest reports going on in the media, Lisandro Martinez is Man United’s prime target to strengthen the central defense this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd have outbid Arsenal for Martinez but their offer is still not good enough to be accepted by Ajax and therefore, the Gunners are not out of the race as yet.
The reliable Italian journalist believes the Red Devils are pressing to agree a salary and Ten Hag remains the key factor to convince the 24-year-old to move to Old Trafford.
Further, Romano has claimed that the South American center-half will make Ajax aware that he wants to move to the Premier League.
Last season, our skipper, Harry Maguire, was arguably the most inconsistent central defender in the league and we surely need a leader in the backline. It will not come as any surprise to see him lose the captain’s armband next term.
On the other hand, big-money signing, Raphael Varane, spent majority of the time on the treatment table and was unable to impress when fit.
Lindelof has not proved to be good enough and Bailly is linked with a move to Fulham (Sky Sports). So a solid central defender must be signed and if we are chasing Martinez, then Ten Hag surely believes the £50million-rated star (The Telegraph) has the quality to strengthen the defense.
Have your say – Who should start with Lisandro Martinez in the central defense if Man Utd do end up signing him?
