Manchester United have to sign a top player to replace Edinson Cavani and they have been linked with Darwin Nunez.
According to a story published by Correio da Manha this morning (news image provided below), Man Utd are ready to steal the signing of the Uruguayan international. The intend to beat Liverpool, who have already agreed a deal worth £85million with Benfica.
The famous media outlet have mentioned that Man Utd will not give up and will continue to make efforts to sign the 22-year-old striker until the deal is made official.
However, the signs are not positive. The major dilemma is that the Merseysiders have agreed everything with the South American center forward, who is ready to move to Anfield.
Moreover, CDM claim that the agreement between the Reds and the Eagles is practically sealed.
In all fairness, the Red Devils have lost the battle mainly because they cannot offer Champions League football in the next campaign. Nunez, who was the top scorer in the Liga Nos, netted 6 goals in the European Cup last term.
Man Utd may be able to offer a higher fee and salary to persuade the player but in my view, Ten Hag must avoid this approach. The Dutch manager desperately needs to strengthen the midfield and the defense first.
On the other hand, he needs to create harmony in the squad and might not be able to achieve that if a young striker is signed on huge wages.
In your view, should Man Utd break the bank and pay over the odds to steal the signing of Darwin Nunez?
