Barcelona rejected a €150m offer for teenage sensation Ansu Fati in recent days, according to reports.
Fati is one of the brightest stars to have emerged from the Barcelona academy in recent years. He is yet to reach adulthood, but already played a big part at Camp Nou last season.
That progress will continue this year, especially after Barcelona officially promoted the winger to the first team. As part of the arrangement, his release clause has shot up to €400m.
However, that hasn’t stopped interested parties considering a bid. According to Marca, Barcelona recently received a €150m offer for the 17-year-old.
The report does not mention which club made the offer, but speculates that it could have been Manchester United – who have a keen interest in the player.
Fati has recently hired Jorge Mendes as his new agent, and the GestiFute head told Barcelona of the new offer in the past couple of days. The deal would have been an up-front payment of €125m, plus a further €25m in add-ons.
Fati not for sale
Barcelona, however, deem Fati an unsellable asset. The La Liga giants are going through a summer of transition, but Fati is one of the players they will not let leave.
He remains under contract until 2022, rather than the new expiry date of 2024 that previous reports had mentioned.
And United are keen to sign him, with Marca reminding that they want a star attacker to help them close the gap with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
But Barcelona are steadfast in their desire to keep the Spain international, who has already scored eight goals for the first team at club level.
