Cristiano Ronaldo was the top scorer for Manchester United in the last campaign and without his goals, the Red Devils would have even failed to qualify for the Europa League.
The Portuguese superstar has made it clear that he wants to leave the club this summer and reports suggest that the Old Trafford outfit are making plans for life without him.
According to The Mirror (news image provided below), Ten Hag will press Man Utd to sign Brazilian international, Antony, to replace Ronaldo if he is sold in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old winger was a key member of the Ajax side that won the Eredivisie title last season under the guidance of the new Man United boss.
In all competitions, the Samba star featured in 32 games, scored 12 goals and also provided 10 assists. The South American’s contract will expire in 2025 and he is valued at £80million (The Telegraph) by the Dutch side.
Sooner or later, Man Utd have to replace Ronaldo but do you think Antony can replace him? I don’t think so.
In the past few years and since returning to Old Trafford, the Seleccao captain has mainly played as a center forward and not as a winger. However, Antony is predominantly a right-winger and has never featured in the No.9 role.
We have already offloaded Edinson Cavani for free and if Ronaldo is sold then a young out-and-out striker must be signed to reinforce the strike force.
Have your say – Who should Ten Hag sign to take the place of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford?
