The Portugal international was a star performer in City’s Champions League semi-final second-leg clash against Real Madrid, bagging a brace to inspire the Citizens into their second European final in three seasons, as reported by talkSPORT.
He has since appeared on the radar of Barcelona and PSG as his future with the Premier League leaders hangs in the balance as the 28-year-old flirts with the idea of leaving Etihad.
However, former PSG winger Jerome Rothen has urged Silva not to join the Parisians, explaining it will be a ‘huge mistake’ due to the club owners’ philosophy which he believes does not suit the player’s style.
“Bernardo Silva would make a huge mistake if he came only for economic reasons and living environment. I am sure that PSG will sign him because he is a star,” he told RMC Sport as quoted by GOAL.
Rothen also heaped praise on Bernardo’s qualities:
“He [Bernardo Silva] plays for his teammates, he knows how to finish, he is intelligent. He really is the player who best reflects what Guardiola wants to put on the field. He has it all. This player has class.
“The president or the emir are not supposed to be concerned with building a team. They decide to sign names. They love Bernardo Silva, especially with the game he played on Wednesday. It is not a money problem for them. They don’t want Bernardo Silva for collective construction.”
PSG interested in ManCity ‘s Bernardo Silva
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Paris Saint-Germain are already planning for life after Lionel Messi and have identified Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva as the perfect replacement for the Argentine superstar.
Messi has had an inspiring two seasons with the Parisians since joining the club from Barcelona in 2021 but wants to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
PSG are ready to battle Barcelona for the signature of Silva, who is prepared to leave Manchester City this summer for a new challenge outside of England.
