Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has stated that his ‘beautiful’ against Fulham was ‘nice’ because he scored against his compatriot, Alphonse Areola.
Man United moved back to the top spot in the Premier League after coming from an early strike from Ademola Lookman to win the Cottagers 2-1 at Craven Cottage.
Edinson Cavani scored the equaliser for United after benefiting from Alphonse Areola’s poor clearance of Bruno Fernandes’s cross.
In the 65th minute, Paul Pogba fired Manchester United front after his gambled left-footed strike went past his fellow countryman, Areola.
The France star’s strike, which would go on to be the match-winning goal, has since attracted special praise from fans, pundits, teammates and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Speaking after the game, the France international told Canal + via French Football News: “I didn’t think, I just lit it up. I shot, it was a beautiful goal. To score against a good friend of mine Phons Phons [Alphonse Areola] was especially nice.”
Paul Pogba admitted that Fulham made the game difficult for Manchester United and confessed the relegation-threatened side’s pressing was really well.

“It’s a big win because it was a hard game,| Paul Pogba continued. “We knew it would be difficult. They press really well and stay compact. We had to come back and we needed this win and we got it.
“I was really mad after the Liverpool game for not scoring the chance. I maybe should’ve done better but today it went in. Most important was the win today. We did it the hard way and did it the beautiful way.
“No [didn’t know about the Manchester City result], we just knew we had to get our result. I love winning, it’s all about winning. I’m happy when we win on the pitch and angry when we lose.
“It’s the Premier League so it will be always be hard. We have to do us and that’s it.”
