Borussia Dortmund have rejected Manchester United’s opening offer of €98 million (£89m) for Jadon Sancho, according to reports in Germany.
The 20-year-old is United’s priority target for the summer transfer window with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to strengthen the right side of his attack.
United’s transfer budget has been boosted after Solskjaer’s side secured qualification for the Champions League on the final day of the Premier League campaign on Sunday.
But according to Bild, their opening bid for Sancho has been turned down by Sancho.
The report claims that Dortmund are holding out for a €120m (£109.3m) transfer fee for the England interntional.
The Bundesliga club have also set a deadline of August 10 for United to complete a deal as they want Sancho’s future resolved before the start of their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.
Bild also report that Dortmund are already lining up replacements to compensate for Sancho’s departure with Jonathan Ikone and Jeremie Boga at the top of their shortlist.
Sancho has been a key part of Dortmund’s attack this season with 20 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances.
Meanwhile, ESPN report that United are hopeful of agreeing an £80m fee with Dortmund and are looking to top up the deal with a series of performance-related add-ons.
The report also claims that United’s have been informed by Sancho’s representatives that the winger is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
